How do I become a buyer?

You can post a vidoe request and enter your basic registration details on the same form. Or, just click the Register button on the front page and fill in a few basic fields.

How much does it cost?

Nothing. Membership is free. There’s no charge for submitting a request. And you are under no obligation to award a bid.

Where do I begin?

You should check out the video request listings to see what kinds of projects other buyers are posting. Also click Search Producers to see a list of producers.

How does the bidding process work?

A buyer can post two kinds of requests:

  • A public request is open to all producers to bid on a project.
  • An invitation-only request can be seen by everyone, but only producers whom you invite may post a bid. Search on the site for producers who are right for your project and then invite them by clicking the blue “Request Bid” button. (Tip: Save producers to your Favorites list and.)

After reviewing all the bids submitted, the buyer then awards the project to the producer who made the best bid. You can do this when the listing ends or at any time — even before bidding is over. When you click the blue “Accept Bid” button on your request page, an alert is sent to the producer you selected. The producer then verifies that he or she accepts the request. Congratulations! You have a deal.

Next, go to your dashboard, select the project, and you’ll be taken to your new Project Workspace, where you can manage your project and communicate with the producer. Only the buyer and producer can see this private page. At the end of the project, both parties verify that the request has been completed.

How do I contact a producer?

You can send a private message to any producer by clicking through to his or her Producer Profile page and clicking the blue button marked “Send Message.”

Producers may contact you by (a) responding privately to your private message, or (b) posting a public message to your Project Details page.

How do I keep track of favorite producers?

After signing in, you can save producers to your dashboard this way:

  • Click the green “Save to Favorites” button on the Search Producers pages.
  • Click the orange “Save to Favorites” button on each producer’s profile page.

How do I submit a request?

On your dashboard, click the small green button at the upper right that says, “Post a video request.” Then fill in the form, providing information about the project name, description, budget range and a few other details. You can also do this from the front page.

Where can I find the project I submitted?

When you submit the request, you’ll see a link to a new Project Details page describing your new project.

At any time, you can find the Project Details page for each of your projects on your dashboard. Your new project will also be listed at the top of the video request listings.

Am I obligated to award a bid?

No. If you’re not satisfied with the quality of the bids or you’ve changed your mind about the project’s needs, you need not award a bid.

How long does a producer have to accept the bid I’ve awarded?

There is no set time period. If you have a tight deadline, you should let the producer know that when you award the bid. The producer will be notified by email and receive an alert on his or her dashboard.

How do I extend the bidding period for my request?

At any time — before or after bidding ends — you can extend the bidding period by 7 days on your Project Details page. Just go to your dashboard and click on the project link to arrive on the Project Details page. There, to the right of “Close date,” you’ll see a link that says, “extend bidding by 7 days.” Click it.

Is there a maximum number of requests I can open?

No.

Can I cancel a request?

A buyer can delete a request at any time before it is awarded.

When the bidding period ends and the buyer isn’t satisfied with any of the bids submitted, the buyer can delete the request or resubmit it for an additional seven days. There is no penalty or fee for doing so.

Once the buyer awards the project and the producer accepts it, both parties must agree to a cancellation of the project.

Can I see and track requests from other buyers?

Yes. To see them, go to the video requests listings.

Tip: When you click the Search button in the top navigation and see the “Search Producers” page, you can click the blue “Search Requests” button at the upper right to switch over to see a listing of other buyers’ projects.

To save other buyers’ projects to your dashboard, do one of the following:

  • Click the blue “Track Project” button on a request listings page.
  • Click the blue “Track this Project” button on the project’s individual Project Details page.

We encourage you to pay a visit and see what’s working for other buyers.

Can I change my mind about who I award my project to?

If you award a bid to a producer and then change your mind, you can click the “Undo Accept” button on your Project Details (request) page. Once the original producer has accepted the bid, however, you won’t see this button and you’ll have to mutually agree to cancel the project before awarding the bid to someone else.

How do I cancel a project?

After you award a bid and the producer accepts, both parties must agree to a project cancellation by clicking the “Cancel Project” button on the Project Workspace page. If no work has been done and no money has changed hands, there should be no issue. If work has been performed or a payment made, both parties must agree to terms on their own (e.g., partial payment for services rendered) and then cancel the project. If no agreement can be reached, the parties may proceed to mediation.

In what format or medium will my project be delivered?

That’s up to you — your request should spell out what you’re looking for. It’s important to make sure the producer knows your expectations.

Can I change my account information after I’ve registered?

Yes. From your dashboard click View/Edit Profile and you’ll be able to edit both your private account information and your public profile information. (You can also just type MediaMobz.com/profile into your browser to get there.) We hope you’ll post a photo and some examples of projects.

Am I obligated to reveal my company’s name?

No. We hope that you do, but if for competitive reasons you want to place a request without disclosing your company’s identity, that’s fine. You choose your display name on your profile page. If you want to remain completely anonymous, you can choose a pseudonym for your first and last name on your profile page and leave the company name blank.

Can I delete my account?

If you have awarded a project, you can’t delete your account because the site needs to retain the related project information. However, you can contact us and we’ll change your account’s status to “inactive,” which removes your profile page from public view. You can also change the details on your profile page at any time.

Will my MediaMobz projects be displayed on your site?

No. The producer is working for you, not for us. We don’t display the media that is created during your project — we’re not a media hosting or sharing site. However, if you upload the video to another site (like Veoh or YouTube), you can point to it from your next request.

Note that every member’s profile page contains an area for “Projects in Progress” or “Completed Projects,” which merely shows the public Project Details page and nothing else. (You can hide these on your profile page by unchecking the checkbox next to the project name.)
