How do I become a producer?
Just click the Register button on the front page and fill in a few basic fields, or go here.
How much does it cost?
Membership is free. Theres no charge for submitting a bid. If you are awarded a bid, theres a flat fee of $40 to accept it.
Where do I begin?
A good place to start is the request listings, which show all projects available for bidding. You can bid on a request or post a question for the buyer on the project page.
How does the bidding process work?
The video request listings show all requests on the site. A buyer can post two kinds of requests:
- A public request is open to all producers to bid on a project.
- An invitation-only request can be seen by everyone, but only producers individually invited by the buyer may post a bid. However, on the Project Details (request) page, you can click the orange Messages button to post a public message to the buyer and ask to be invited to bid.
You will be alerted, both on your dashboard and with an e-mail, if the buyer awards the bid to you. You then must click the Accept link to enter into the agreement.
Next, go to your dashboard, select the project, and youll be taken to your new Project Workspace, where you can manage your project and communicate with the buyer. Only the producer and buyer can see this private page. At the end of the project, both parties verify that the request has been completed.
How do I track projects?
To save projects (requests) to your dashboard, do one of the following:
- Click the blue Track Project button on a request listings page.
- Click the blue Track this Project button on the projects individual Project Details page.
How do I keep track of favorite producers?
After signing in, you can save producers to your dashboard this way:
- Click the green Save Info button on the Search Producers pages.
- Click the orange Save to Favorites button on each producers profile page.
What happens after I submit a bid?
Hang loose. Buyers generally wait for the bidding period to end before awarding the bid. When that happens, youll be notified by email and in your dashboards Bids, Messages, Alerts box whether you have won the bid. (You wont be notified if someone else has, but youll be able to see whether the projects status has changed.)
How long do I have to accept a bid award?
Theres no time limit, but you should act fast. The buyer can always change his mind. When the buyer awards a bid, youll receive an email notification and an alert on your dashboard. Follow the link and click the accept project link.
I dont want my bid to be public.
If the buyer has posted an open request, all bids are public. If the buyer has posted a closed request, only the buyer will see your bid. Its the buyers call.
Can I edit my bid after Ive submitted it?
Yes, and you can change details in both the price or description of the work youre proposing. But make sure youre careful before submitting any bid because the buyer receives an email and alert every time you submit or resubmit a bid.
Can I bid on multiple projects at the same time?
Yes. If a buyer offers a project, youll be given a final opportunity to accept or decline it. Just dont take on more work than you can deliver with professionalism.
How do I get paid?
You and the buyer will decide at the outset whether youll be paid in increments or in one lump sum at the end. You and the buyer decide the best way to handle payments on your own: through PayPal, wire transfer, by check, etc. MediaMobz is not involved in this part of the process.
Can I bring in subcontractors?
Yes. You may decide that you need collaborators on a project, or you may need to hire an entire crew. Just let the buyer know. You will need to handle payments to subcontractors, unless you and the buyer agree otherwise.
Can I contact a buyer directly?
Producers can post public messages to any Project Details page to inquire about a project. (Click through on the request listings to see each Project Details page.) Then click the orange Messages button to post a public message.
Producers can also respond privately to any message sent by a buyer. But producers cannot send unsolicited messages to a buyer. And you cant post messages on a buyers profile page, only on a Project Details page.
Can I bid on an invitation-only request?
If a buyer invites you to bid on a project, go ahead! If you spot one thats up your alley, post a public message on the Project Details page and see if the buyer asks you to join in the bidding.
Where do I manage my project?
Once a bid has been awarded and accepted, a Project Workspace is created, accessible only to the producer and buyer. Access it from your dashboard. Here you can manage your project, see a log of project messages, see and exchange small files and download SpinXpress for sharing large files.
What is SpinXpress?
On your Project Workspace, youll notice a section titled, Collaborate & exchange large files. Here you have the option to download and use SpinXpress, a free, secure, private, invitation-only peer-to-peer application made by the same people who created MediaMobz.
Download it and youll see a folder for your MediaMobz project. You can collaborate with other producers, show storyboards or early versions of your video to the buyer, and exchange files with no size limit — yes, even 5GB files. Producers who work in teams or who need to share large files will find this application (PC and Mac) especially useful. Its free.
Can I include copyrighted materials in my production?
All producers are required to clear rights for any and all materials included in a video, audio or other work. That means the material should be created by you, available in the public domain or under a suitable Creative Commons license, or cleared through an agreement with the rights holder. All producers using this site are responsible for the content of their creations.
Can I withdraw from a project?
Thats for you and the buyer to work out. Once you have accepted a bid, both you and the buyer would have to agree to cancel your participation in the project. If no work has been done and no money has changed hands, there should be no issue and both parties should click the Cancel Project button on the Project Workspace page. If work has been performed or a payment made, both parties must agree on acceptable terms before canceling the project. If no agreement can be reached, the parties may proceed to mediation.
How do I become a top-rated producer on MediaMobz?
First, youll want to make sure your profile page is in tip-top shape, with your bio, photo, skills, links to your works and favorite sites, etc. Enhancing your profile will likely increase your rank on the site. Second, youll need to bid on requests and successfully complete the projects, generating high ratings and positive reviews.
In addition, you can build out a full-fledged portfolio — as big as you want — on our sister site, Ourmedia.org. People can access your portfolio on Ourmedia from your MediaMobz profile page.
What is a Sponsored Producers ad?
You can promote yourself and stand out from the crowd by placing a sponsored ad. Your ad will place you in the Sponsored Producers area on most major pages of MediaMobz, attracting the notice of buyers on the site.
How do I become a Sponsored Producer?
Just sign in, click here and sign up. Its fast, easy and costs just $25 for a week of high visibility.
What is the Profile-o-meter, and how do I increase my score?
The Profile-o-meter indicates the degree to which the producer has completed his or her profile. This information is public. It is not an indication of the producer's quality of work.
To boost your percentage to 100%, make sure the following elements are completed on your Profile page:
- Enter at least three reels (55%)
- Upload a small image of yourself (15%)
- Fill in the "Background" field (10%)
- Enter at least one external link in "My network" (5%)
- Complete the short bio and at least one skill and category (15% total)
Can I display my website and email address on my profile page?
Yes. Unlike control-oriented request sites that prevent producers from displaying their home pages or identifying information, were an open marketplace. We trust that you and the buyers will find enough value on MediaMobz.com to conduct business through our site.
Can I change my account information after Ive registered?
Yes. From your dashboard click View/Edit Profile and youll be able to edit both your private account information and your public profile information. (You can also just type MediaMobz.com/profile into your browser to get there.) We hope youll post a photo and some examples of projects youve completed elsewhere.
Your profile page shows both your real name and display name. You can choose any display name youd like on MediaMobz (unless it violates our community standards). If you change it, your past postings will remain the same but remain linked to your profile page with your new display name.
Can I delete my account?
If you have successfully bid on a project, you cant delete your account because the site needs to retain the related project information. However, you can contact us and well change your accounts status to inactive, which removes your profile page from public view. You can also change the details on your profile page at any time.
Will my MediaMobz projects be displayed on your site?
No. Youre working for the buyer, not for us. We dont display the media that your create during the project — were not a media hosting or sharing site.
Note that every members profile page contains an area for Projects in Progress or Completed Projects, which merely show the public Project Details page and nothing else. (You can hide these on your profile page by unchecking the checkbox next to the project name.)
